Riding a Bullet!
The Bullet originated in 1934 when the firm unveiled its new line-up of sports models, but it is the post-War versions that we have come to know and love, thanks to the fact that a satellite factory, opened in Madras in 1954 to build bikes for the Indian army, continues to make Bullets to this very day – 43 years after the closure of the original UK operation in Redditch.
On an Indian dirt road, it’s hard to imagine anything more suitable than a softly sprung Bullet with its lazy old engine which will play through sand and mud all day long.
No one can miss a Royal Enfield on the road, its distinct styling makes it stand out from the crowd. So, a lot of people opt for this brand as it is a true head-turner.
Riding a bike is truly liberating, the way the wing gushes as you drive through some of the pleasant roads, adds to the excitement. If someone is riding an Enfield, the excitement doubles, in fact, it is an experience to cherish for a lifetime.
The tagline of Royal Enfield, “Jab Bullet Chale toh Duniya Raasta De” sums it all quite beautifully as it is definitely a motorcycle that enjoys an overpowering presence as people have to make way for it!
There are even so many one liners that don’t just define the ride but the bike itself, the best one I find is
“The next best thing between a man’s leg”
There are bikes like Harley Davidson, Yamaha, Hero Honda and then there comes Royal Enfield. It’s not just a bike, it screams addiction and passion for all the riders.
Four wheels move the body but the two wheels of this bike, moves the soul.
It’s like every model of the bike speaks to you
Standard: “Trust in the Bullet with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to her, and she will make your paths straight.”
Thunderbird: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Thunderbird will be with you wherever you go.”
Continental: “May the God of urban roads fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with adrenaline by the power of the Continental.”
But everything sums up in just 8 words
Made like a gun, goes like a bullet!
