Education System - Blue Drop Pictures

Education System

We live differently in the 21st century. Being highly connected with technology advancement, high mobility, globalization,  iGeneration and what not. The cohort of people born from in the 2000s till date has some different characteristics with its preceding generation, allowing us to implement different approaches for everything thing starting with the base foundation of education.

Education is suggested to be the most heavily judged form of qualification to be looked at when looking for an ‘ideal person’, But what is Education?

Is it something you go out and buy at the most prestigious of Schools and College University’s? Do you simply invest 25k a year, and at the end handed a degree/diploma that says, ‘Educated’?

In my opinion, this is today’s view on what education is. It is less of a conquest of knowledge, but a few sheets of paper you need to define, and further few sheets that are going to define ‘you’.

I will start with the current education system. The biggest problem is, lack of motivation. Millions of the kids do not know the purpose of going to a school, except an obligation. It’s no more like a means of living or survival, i hope you understand what I am trying to imply here.

‘Education is the light of knowledge!’ – is just a statement now that needs to be mugged up, to be what they call “intelligent”.

In this system, kids are forced to avoid any ‘distraction’ such as sports, television, extra curricular beyond a point and stick to the stagnancy of education. In class, they are given the theory and required to memorise it, without knowing the relevance of the context in the real world. That is why students do not “learn” they just become parrots.

It becomes more severe with quantitative standardised testing. They only know they oblige to study and pass the standard.

Overall physical and mental development of the student are the victims of this system! Lets just end it with a basic question, what kind of output do we really want from the education system?

I always imagine if schools can be place where students can come excitingly, full of self-directed knowledge, so much more passion and information about what they want to do. If you ask me the reading-writing culture and curiosity coloured my school time.

Education is not knowledge transfer that remake students as a blueprint of their teacher. Education system must have the ability to transform the knowledge, reaching the final goal of education, as rightly said

“Education’s purpose to replace an empty mind with an open one”
